There was a day when compromised officials were embarrassed and scandalized to the point of resignation when their graft and influence peddling was made public. That paradigm is no longer valid. The emperors’ viziers now, through the three-headed implementation of data suppression, “official” disinformation, and prestidigitation, allow the emperors to bask in their inviolable palaces of self-righteousness while appointing the viziers to even grander and more influential positions of power and control.

Good luck cutting off the head of that hydra.
