Who Thinks This Is A Good Idea?

Governance Board Gone, or Merely Gone Underground?

§ The news out today is that the Homeland Security Misinformation/Disinformation Governance Board has been “paused.” I am leery of the meaning of “paused” as used by the White House, here.

I see three possible scenarios. The White House convenes another focus group to rename the “Misinformation/Disinformation Governance Board” to something more palatable to the American public. The White House retains a facsimile of the board, but does not publicize its existence, choosing instead to use output from the board as the “official” position for public consumption and lame-street media dissemination. Finally, the board genuinely may be abandoned as a bad idea. My cynicism steers me toward option 2, but time will tell.

Misinformation/Disinformation Governance Board? What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

I want to get this right: A law enforcement agency of the U. S. government recently established a panel with the authority to dictate, potentially under the force of arms, which data in the public square are officially “approved,” and which data are not? Has Mayorikas (i. e., White House handlers) not read the Constitution of the United States: “Congress shall make no law respecting . . . abridging the freedom of speech?” Granted, DHS (Department of Homeland Security) is not Congress, but it derives its rule-making authority from Congress.

Executive Branch and the Constitution

A phenomenon of the Obama and current administration that concerns me is the apparently increasing attitude of the executive branch that because it is not Congress it is not constrained by Constitutional limitations imposed on the legislative branch. Thus, ostensibly, the executive branch can issue rulings that are clearly Constitutionally prohibited–to the Congress. Perhaps we should not be really surprised, After all the regime’s titular leader said, “We choose truth over facts.”

Ministry of Fact Checking Inaugural “Truth” — “Leaks will save our democracy”

One of the euphemisms frequently used by the left is “[X] is a threat to our democracy” (See “The Benefits of Substitutionary Phrases“). Substitute any crisis that threatens Democratic supremacy for [X]. The leak from the U. S. Supreme Court over the possible reversal of Roe v. Wade will likely receive a favorable fact-check rating from our new Ministry of Real DHS Fact Checking. After all, “our bodies are ours” (until they aren’t–Git the shot, prole)!! This is merely the Biden regime’s version of Pravda.
