SpaceX and NASA put American back into space. After a nine-year hiatus, American are back in space in American-made vehicles. It’s about time. I am old enough to remember the first moon landing, and to remember exactly where I was when it happened. For a few months I even worked in the aerospace industry with synchronous satellite prototypes.

The commercial-government partnership offers unparalleled opportunity. What excites me most about this commercial-government venture are the commercial possibilities, and I don’t mean space tourists. Commercial space has the potential for truly building objects in space. I don’t mean carting materials from earth to assemble in space like we do now. Rather, I mean mining, smelting, and building in space.
