How Will This Summary Conclude?
The OT and the Summaries of the kings of Judah and Israel
In part, the Old Testament books of Kings (prophetic perspective) and Chronicles (Levitical perspective) document the summaries of Judah’s and Israel’s kings from David to the Israelite and Judaic monarchs enthroned during the invasions of Assyria and Babylon. Notable, for this missive, are the conclusions over whether the monarch was good or evil. A good monarch was assessed as one who did what is right in the eyes of God. An evil monarch was assessed as one who honored false gods, lured the people away from the one, true God by word, deed, and action, and by doing so led them to their own destruction.
The OT summation records usually began with, “He did what was right (or evil) in the eyes of the Lord.” These conclusions were then followed by justification for their assessments. How would this summary fare?

He appointed judges who failed to apply the nation’s laws equally to all, and who judged unjustly and vindictively.
He appointed priests and officials to promote the violation of God’s natural law of sexual morality.
He failed to interdict poisonous drugs sent into his country by a foreign adversary to enslave the people by addiction.
