Welcome to the Queen’s Palace

Editor’s Note: 24 May 2921. Looks like the Praetorian Guard is being withdrawn. The remaining sole requirement from Mother Superior is that you wear your masks on the Palace Grounds; anti-bodies be damned.

Fences and the Praetorian Guard

“Welcome to the Queen’s Palace, er your Capitol building. We are very sorry but you have to go through security first. Have your RealID, your travel papers, your psych eval, your vaccination passport, your negative COVID test papers, and your permission slip from your mother certifying you are not an insurrectionist from the Q Continuum ready for inspection. Orders from Lord Fauchi of the Center for Continuing Disease Disinformation and Wuhan Gain-of-Function Funding Center (formerly known as the CDC) require that everyone wear 6 masks. Ignore the fences and razor wire, they’re only for our protection from the proles. Once again, we welcome you to the Ice Queen’s Palace Capitol. Enjoy your visit. Don’t touch anything!”

Silly me! I thought Demos didn’t believe walls or fences are effective in keeping people out of where they are not wanted. From their past rhetoric, high-tech surveillance is sufficient. From the action of the Ice Queen, it seems they do believe fences are appropriate to keep the proles away from the sanctified halls of Congress.

Hmm, the fences around our Capital do raise a question though. Since the Demos demonstrate they do believe fences can control unwanted crowds, then what was the purpose of their opposition to a fence-like barrier at our southern border?

I am somewhat surprised the Ice Queen did not overtly require personal loyalty oaths of the 25,000+ National Guardsmen present around the Coronation (formally known as Inauguration) of the !President Supreme Leader. I guess she figured the “I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me” segment from their enlistment oath satisfied that requirement. Or, maybe not. I recall demands for background checks on National Guardsmen to assess their loyalty to the establishment.

From the rumors I hear, the Capitol palace fence is to be a permanent fixture. One wonders if the National Praetorian Guard will undergo the same fate. There is one thing to be concerned about, however. The oath commissioned officers render does not include the “obey the orders of” part.

The Praetorian Guard and History

Students of history, both formal and incidental, are likely aware of the checkered history of ancient Rome’s Praetorian Guard. Ostensibly formed to protect Caesar, in the waning days of the Empire they often were the force behind the king-making by removing and replacing emperors with those whom they, themselves, chose.

Editor’s Note: !Sorry for the shift in allusions from Alice in Wonderland to The Chronicles of Narnia. The Queen’s intent in Narnia seems more in keeping with this Queen’s intent.
